Dealing With Bouts of Anxiety or Depression

from: Oze Parrot

The term, anxiety disorder, is used to describe a broad range of mental health issues that are mostly associated with stress. Such conditions as depression, panic, apprehension, phobia, fear and worry are included in the variety of problems that are collectively described as, anxiety disorder.

Most cases of anxiety disorder can be attributed to stress. People that are constantly confronted by stressful situations, inevitably become sufferers of anxiety and depression. If left untreated, anxiety will cause a number of physical symptoms that will eventually cause a person's physical and mental health, to deteriorate into a disabling state. Anxiety or depression are conditions that can seriously affect peoples physical and mental performance, and completely destroy their normal lifestyle.

There are a number of symptoms associated with anxiety or depression that will indicate the presence of the condition. Irregular eating habits, loss of appetite, overindulgence of sweets or candy, lack of concentration, confusion, temperamental behavior, headaches, cramps, sexual problems and a general feeling of hopelessness. A person who experiences a selection of these symptoms, for any length of time, should seek professional advice.

A depressed anxiety sufferer, may often entertain thoughts of suicide. When these thoughts are brought to mind, the person concerned needs help urgently, and should talk to someone immediately. Talk to a friend or neighbor, call a loved one or lifeline, visit an emergency center or at least go to a public place and seek some company. Continuing to be alone when in this frame of mind is only tempting fate, and could end up in tragedy.

Anxiety and depression can affect anyone, and it stands as the number one mental health disorder in America. There is no shame attached to the disorder, and any person who has the slightest reason to suspect that they may have anxiety disorder, should seek medical advice at the earliest opportunity.

Diagnosis of anxiety or depression in it's early stages, will afford the sufferer the best chance of alleviating the condition quickly, and resuming a healthy, normal life.
